Vontobel appoints Georg Schubiger as the new Head of Private Banking and a Member of the Group Executive Management

Vontobel has appointed Georg Schubiger as the new Head of its Private Banking business unit with effect from 1 September 2012. A Swiss citizen, aged 43, Georg Schubiger has an excellent track record in the international finance industry and will take over responsibility for the private clients business from Peter Fanconi, who has decided to pursue a new professional challenge outside the Group. As a member of the Group Executive Management, Georg Schubiger will report directly to Zeno Staub, CEO of the Vontobel Group.

Vontobel is intensifying the strategic development of its private clients business and has appointed Georg Schubiger as the Head of Private Banking and a Member of the Group Executive Management with effect from 1 September 2012. Georg Schubiger holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and has extensive knowledge and experience of the international finance industry. Over the last 10 years, he has held various senior management functions within the Northern European Danske Bank Group, where he was most recently a Member of the Executive Board. In addition to his proven strategic abilities and management skills, he brings with him first-hand experience of conducting business in Eastern Europe and Russia, which are among the Vontobel Group's focus markets.

Peter Fanconi, the former Head of Private Banking and a Member of the Group Executive Management, has decided to pursue a new professional challenge outside the Vontobel Group. As a result of the acquisition of Commerzbank Schweiz, the targeted expansion of Private Banking's Swiss and international presence, the rollout of the new advisory process 'Advisory@Vontobel' and the implementation of our cross-border strategy, Vontobel is now well positioned to play an active part in the ongoing consolidation of the Swiss financial centre," stated Zeno Staub in recognition of Peter Fanconi's work.
