About Sigmar Gabriel
Sigmar Gabriel shaped German federal policy from 2003 to 2018, first as Environment Minister, later as Minister of Economics and Energy, and finally as Foreign Minister. In 2017 he decided not to pursue a candidature as Chancellor in favor of Martin Schulz, and in May 2019 announced that he would no longer run for office, even in the general election in 2021. Gabriel graduated in German language and literature, political science and sociology. A gifted writer, he shapes public debate to this day, authoring articles in various newspapers such as "Die Zeit" and "Der Tagesspiegel".
