On June 7, 2018, the panel event "Vontobel Impact" addressing the theme of Sustainability was held in Geneva. One of the top speakers was André Borschberg, engineer, pilot, and CEO of the legendary Solar Impulse mission. In this Vontobel video interview, he talks about how he experienced climate change first-hand – and how nature has changed over the past 15 years.
How is climate change affecting our planet? And what is different today compared to 15 years ago? André Borschberg has studied both climate and weather for many years to prepare his team for the Solar Impulse mission. Looking back from the vantage point of today, he first recalls that weather phenomena used to be significantly simpler and could be predicted more reliably. But he also thinks of all the challenges that were successfully overcome on the road to success. Climate change, the pilot is convinced, not only increases pressure on humankind, but also inspires them to new peak performance.

About André Borschberg
The Swiss engineer and pilot André Borschberg studied at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and at MIT. In 2010 he undertook the first solar-powered flight ever with Solar Impulse and then, together with Bertrand Piccard, circumnavigated the world in a solar airplane in 2015/16.
