Vontobel-Chairman Herbert J. Scheidt and Dr. Zeno Staub, CEO of Vontobel, welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the IMF, as special guests this year. In his welcoming address, Herbert J. Scheidt recalled that one year ago, the conference had already focused on the increasing uncertainty in the world. Unfortunately, the world has become even more insecure in the face of unresolved armed conflicts. „The outbreak of further, even more devastating conflicts seems possible at any time. The tectonic shifts triggered by the end of the Pax Americana and ‘America first’, China's hegemonic renaissance and Russia's defiant ‘We are somebody again’, now hit us hard”, added Herbert J. Scheidt.
