At the Carl F. Bucherer manufactory in Lengnau near Bern, magical watchmaking artistry is practiced on a daily basis. During a visit, our guests were able to immerse themselves in the world of luxury watches and discover the latest timepieces as well as the finest craftsmanship. In addition, our Vontobel analyst René Weber informed them about developments in the luxury watch industry and the CEO of Carl F. Bucherer, Sascha Moeri, gave them first-hand insights.
Carl F. Bucherer – “Made of Lucerne”
Carl F. Bucherer is one of the few Swiss watchmakers still owned by the founding family Bucherer. The Carl F. Bucherer brand has its roots deep in Lucerne’s cosmopolitan spirit, which is reflected in a visual language of minimalist gold that tells of the Baroque influences of its hometown. For 130 years, the luxury products and sophisticated creations of Carl F. Bucherer have been created against this backdrop. The claim “Made of Lucerne” perfectly captures the essence of the brand, which stands for the finest Swiss watchmaking artistry in noble design and groundbreaking technological innovation.
During a visit to the manufactory, our guests were able to discover the world of Carl F. Bucherer and a admire the timepieces. Every timepiece that leaves Carl F. Bucherer’s manufacture is a miniature work of art. Hundreds of component seamlessly combined to make a Carl F. Bucherer watch a masterpiece of the fine art of watchmaking. Every time piece has its own beating heart – the movement – which is the quintessence of innovation, precision and beauty.

Our guests were allowed to look over the shoulders of the watchmakers and experience every single step. Sascha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer, gave insights into the company and its history and developments, as the parent company Bucherer is one of the largest watch sellers and leads the global list with sales of CHF 1.2 billion. Major acquisitions made by Bucherer in the past two years to grow further in the luxury segment were the acquisition of WatchGallery in the UK in 2017 and the two US acquisitions of Tourneau and Baron&Leeds in 2018. These facts come from René Weber, Vontobel’s analyst for luxury goods, who knows the industry inside out and reports regularly on it.
